Description

The EcoPoxy FlowCast® premium epoxy casting set contains casting resin and hardener. FlowCast® casting resin is the only bio-based, next-generation epoxy based on renewable raw materials on the market. It is more environmentally friendly than traditional resins and forms a crystal-clear glass-like surface when it hardens. Thanks to such a high-quality end result, this casting resin can also be called liquid glass.

This epoxy casting series is intended for hobbyists who do not want to compromise on quality and for professionals and industry who value high quality and extreme color saturation. Suitable for coating/filling wood, metal, concrete, stone, leather, paper, etc. materials.

PROFESSIONAL CAST RESIN
FlowCast® is a high-performance, commercial-grade casting resin that cures to a clear, UV-resistant, water-based epoxy. It is a 100% solid two-component epoxy with a long gelation time. It has a low exothermic heat generation rate and hardens to a water-like solid mass that resists stress cracking. The perfect substance for castings and transparent encapsulations, which highlights and magnifies the pieces inside. It can be cast and layered in layers up to 38 mm thick.

CRYSTAL CLEAR FINAL RESULT, WITH OR WITHOUT COLOR
EcoPoxy FlowCast® casting resin is thinner and brighter than standard casting resins. When epoxy is combined with hardener, a crystal clear and extremely durable surface is created. Suitable for castings up to 38 mm thick, which can be layered. To achieve the best result, a new casting is done after 24 hours. The mixture hardens completely in 72 hours.

FlowCast® resin can be used alone, so the end result is clear and glassy. If desired, it can be colored with color pigments. EcoPoxy color pigments are available in normal and metal-based versions. With the help of color pigments and by combining them, the color and patterns of the resin can be shaped almost limitlessly. The final result can be further enhanced by adding EcoPoxy glitter to make the resin sparkle.

EXCELLENT BUBBLE REMOVAL AND NEARLY ODORLESS EPOXY
The chemical composition of FlowCast® casting resin has been refined to its peak. Thanks to this, it has a better than usual removal of bubbles. In this way, the end result becomes extremely clear and even without disturbing small microbubbles.

Thanks to its bio-based components, this casting resin is also almost completely odorless, which allows it to be used even in poorly ventilated spaces.

THE ONLY BIO-BASED CASTING RESIN ON THE MARKET.
FlowCast® is the only casting resin on the market that is based on organic raw materials. In its development, attention has primarily been paid to environmental impact and natural ingredients. About 20% of the ingredients in this resin are made from bio-based renewable materials.

EPOXY CASTING
Tips for beginners
When used correctly, this product produces a professional result. Take your time and keep in mind the following common beginner problems when making epoxy castings.

Always make sure your mixing bowl is completely clean and dry. Also make sure that the measuring cup is clean, dry and accurate. The mixing ratio of this product is 2:1 (2 parts resin, 1 part hardener) by volume. Even a small deviation from this ratio can leave the FlowCast resin soft or uneven.
This product requires careful mixing, typically for 2-3 minutes. Avoid excessive whisking as this may introduce air bubbles into the epoxy. 4L portions typically require a mixing time of 6 – 7 minutes. It is not recommended for beginners to mix more than 4L portions at a time. We recommend starting with smaller 2L portions until you become familiar with the mixing process and the product.
When the components are combined and mixing is started, the mixture first turns into a white cloud. This means that the components have not yet been properly mixed together. Continue mixing the mixture until all cloudiness and white streaks have completely disappeared (typically about 2-3 minutes of mixing time)
Make sure you scrape the sides of the mixing bowl as well as the mixture stuck to your mixing tool into your mixture while mixing. If unmixed epoxy remains in the container or tool, it causes uneven wet spots in the final result.
When pouring the finished FlowCast mixture, never scrape the mixture that has stuck to the sides of the mixing bowl with it. Then, no matter how carefully you mix your mixture, there will always be unevenness in the mixture stuck to the edges, which will cause uneven wet spots in the final result.

Warning: Epoxy is a toxic mixture and is easily allergenic. Always use protective gloves and clothing resistant to the mixture so that the mixture does not come into contact with the skin. Always ensure good ventilation and use an active filter.

Calculating the volume: The required amount of epoxy can be found out by multiplying the height, width and length of your casting. Use average lengths when measuring uneven sides. Although FlowCast® casting does not shrink at all when drying under normal conditions, we recommend about 5% more to the calculated amount. This addition ensures that there is enough drainage even in the crevices and depths of the wood, which are difficult to take into account in the volume calculation. Example: 61cm x 15.2cm x 3.8cm + 5% (x1.05) = 3700cm² (% 1000 = 3.7L)

Adheres to: Wood, metal, concrete, granite, stainless steel, laminate, formica, bamboo, leather, ceramic, fiberglass, plastic and many other materials.

Mixing instructions: In a clean and dry container, thoroughly mix 2 parts epoxy and 1 part hardener for about 5 minutes. Add dye or metallic pigment and glitter and mix until completely smooth.

Step 1, Pre-coating the pieces: We recommend using UVPoxy epoxy instead of FlowCast epoxy to pre-coat the pieces, as the very low exothermic reaction of FlowCast epoxy makes it unsuitable for thin coatings. Apply a thin layer of UVPoxy resin with a foam brush until the workpiece is completely sealed. This thin layer seals the pores of the piece, preventing air bubbles from forming during casting. Allow the object to dry for 4 to 8 hours between sealing and casting. Keep in mind that pre-coating may reduce the attraction force between pieces (adhesion), as in all cases epoxy cannot penetrate deeply into the surface or piece and is therefore not recommended in all cases.

Step 2, Casting: The area to be worked on must be clean and dry and free from dust and insects. Unclean and dusty surfaces can cause stains on the casting surfaces. FlowCast casting can be poured in 13 – 38 mm thick layers. The curing of the epoxy starts a chemical reaction that releases heat. To make castings over 12L, it is recommended to use several layers/castings to avoid overheating. It is also recommended to use fans to blow and cool the heat released from the curing reaction. The best adhesion between coats is achieved by waiting 48 hours between coats (when the previous coat has set but is still a little tacky). If the previous layer is not sticky at all, sand it a little with 220 grit sandpaper and then wipe it clean before applying the new layer. The epoxy may slowly fill small cracks and crevices in the piece, which may lower the surface of the casting. Therefore, be prepared to add epoxy if necessary.
