Starcart was born out of the frustration with the online shopping experience experienced by the company's founder, Pasi Ilola. Pasi needed a new pair of running shoes and was swearing about how much time it took to find the right products, at a reasonable price and with a short delivery time.

While dealing with this exhausting task, Pasi wondered if there wasn't an easier way to do this. The online shopping experience felt surprisingly clunky, even though people have been shopping online for almost thirty years.

The magnitude of the challenge is reflected in the fact that there are over 2 million online stores in Europe alone. Finding the available products, especially at the best price, is not easy for consumers. When you add the comparison of used products with new ones into the mix, shopping becomes even more challenging.

During the development of Starcart, it became clear that the problem of online shopping had yet to be solved. No one had created a service that would gather different online stores into one shopping cart using AI. So, Starcart's founders, Pasi Ilola and Lauri Piispanen, decided to build one.
