Koppel-maljakon on suunnitellut tanskalaismuotoilun suunnannäyttäjä Henning Koppel, joka aloitti yhteistyön Georg Jensenin kanssa jo vuonna 1946. Virtaviivaisen maljakon muotokielessä näkyy hienosti Koppelin töille ominainen puhdaslinjaisuus ja funktionalismin tiukkojen sääntöjen pehmentäminen orgaanisilla muodoilla. Kuvanveistoa opiskelleen Koppelin tavoitteena oli tehdä arkipäiväisistä esineistä mahdollisimman kauniita käytännöllisyydestä tinkimättä.
