Now children were also allowed to travel along, which was a clear sign that a new European middle class was emerging. Even the happy caricature families, inspired by American comic magazines, tried to attract people to skiing adventures.
State railways attracted the largest tourist loads after the wars - as in this work by Rolf Christianson. With the help of cheerful and stylish posters published in many languages, the railways influenced Finland's winter tourism more than anyone else.
