Mehiläisvahakääre on kestävä vaihtoehto tuorekelmulle. Siihen voit kääriä esimeriksi eväsleivät, kasvikset ja juustot. Kääreellä voit myös peittää jääkaappiin menossa olevat ruokakulhot. Lämmitä käärettä käsilläsi ja muotoile se tiiviisti säilöttävän tuotteen ympärille tai astian suulle.

Kääre on omiaan suhteellisen kuivien ainesten sälyttämiseen, mutta lihalle ja kalalle sitä ei suositella. Älä kuumenna käärettä uunissa tai mikroaaltouunissa. Pese haalealla vedellä, tarvittaessa voit käyttää pienen määrän tiskiainetta, kuivaa lopuksi ilmavasti.

Mehiläisvahakääre kestää tyypillisesti aktiivista käyttöä noin vuoden, minkä jälkeen voit jatkaa tuotteen käyttöikää käsittelemällä sen uudelleen vahalla. Kääreen voi hävittää leikkaamalla sen pieniksi palasiksi ja kompostoimalla tai polttokelpoisen jätteen mukana.
