You can now begin to prepare and serve food using a unique implement made from soapstone over two billion years old, the Hukka Paistone!
BEFORE USE
Wash the stone carefully and allow it to dry properly (for at least six hours). If you wash the stone in a dishwasher, allow it to dry for 12 hours before use.

NORMAL USE
1)    Place the stone in a cold oven (the stone only, not the ceramic base or cork)
2)    Set the temperature to 300 degrees. If the maximum temperature of your oven is lower than this, set the temperature as high as possible.
3)    Let the stone heat up for around 45-60 minutes. The more stones you place in the oven at the same time, the longer the heating time needed.
4)    While the stone is heating, prepare the side dish or accompaniment to the food you are about to cook and arrange the accompaniment, ready for serving, on the Paistone's ceramic base.
5)    Using sufficiently thick oven gloves or pot holders, lift the stone onto the ceramic base Remember to check that the thermally protective cork is placed between the stone and the ceramic base and be sure to handle the very hot stone with care!
6)    Coat the hot stone thinly with oil or butter.
7)    Place e.g. the beef/fish/shellfish you intend to cook onto the stone.
8)    Keeping everything together, lift the ceramic base, cork, stone and food onto the table. Now, each person at the table can cook and season their food as they prefer.
9)    Once the food has been 'done' to the desired level, place the cooked food on the ceramic base and enjoy.


Please note that the stone will remain hot for a fairly long time. It can therefore be used to keep the food warm. However, exercise caution when handling the hot stone.

AFTER USE
1)    Wait for the stone to cool sufficiently so that it can be handled safely.
2)    You can wash the stone and ceramic base either by hand or in a dishwasher (do not wash the thermally protective cork!)
3)    If the cord becomes stained or marked, wipe it clean with a damp cleaning cloth. Allow the cork to dry properly.
4)    Leave the stone to dry for at least 12 hours after washing, before heating the stone again.

PLEASE NOTE
The stone is particularly efficient at storing heat. Handle it with care and protect yourself from the stone's heat!
Heat the stone in a conventional oven only. Never, under any circumstances, heat the stone on the hot plate of a stove, on a hob, in a microwave oven etc.!
Fat may occasionally spatter off the hot stone. When necessary, cover exposed table surfaces and tablecloths, in order to protect them.
Never leave a hot stone within the reach of children!
