After the death of his wife, Captain Charles Boone (Adrien Brody) and his children relocate to the small town of Preacher's Corner in Maine, where he has inherited his cousin's estate. The townsfolk are wary and, as Boone fights to keep his children safe, he learns that his family history is full of dark and dangerous secrets.
