The indigenous people of New Zealand, the Maoris, have always known the special properties of Manuka honey. It is obtained from the manuka tree, which is also called the tea tree. Manuka honey has a strong taste, a resinous smell and is caramel brown in color. The slightly minty aftertaste is charming.

Manuka honey is recommended to be taken on an empty stomach as it is or dissolved in warm water. It should not be added to hot drinks, so that its properties are not affected.
