Vuonna 1928 General Companysta tuli Yhdysvaltojen suurin kuorma-autoille tarkoitettujen renkaiden valmistaja. Vuonna 1987 johtava saksalainen rengasvalmistaja Continental AG osti General Companyn, jota seurasi voimakas kasvu sekä toiminnan laajentuminen.
