ARTEX MIPS bike helmet

The ARTEX MIPS helmet by GIRO offers a compact road-race inspired design coupled with a removable visor and slightly deeper coverage for riding trails and grinding out long miles on mixed surface roads. The MIPS system provides an added measure of protection from rotational forces in the event of an angled impact.

INMOULD:
The inner shell is fused with the outer shell by using high pressure and strong heat for a lasting connection. This makes the helmet very robust and lightweight.

ROC LOC 5 AIR FIT SYSTEM:
The adjustment mechanism inside a mini housing allows for easy adjustment with just two fingers. Apart from the width, you can also adjust the height of the system for a perfect fit.

WIND TUNNEL VENTILATION:
A clever ventilation system consisting of internal channels and active vents ensures that cool and fresh air is conducted around the head, while the heat can flow away to the outside. Best ventilation during highly intensive activities.

COOLFIT:
This material quickly wicks of sweat. This allows for especially good breathability and ensures a dry and comfortable feeling.

WHAT IS MIPS?
MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) is a slip-plane system within the helmet designed to rotate inside the helmet with the intent to potentially slow or reduce the amount of energy transferred to or from the head possibly reducing head injury from rotational impacts.
WHY IS MIPS IMPORTANT?
When a head rotates quickly and comes to a sudden stop, the rotational acceleration can cause the brain tissue to experience high levels of strain. This stretching of the tissue that can be caused by these motions can result in various types of brain injury. MIPS is designed with the intent to address rotational acceleration from impact.
HOW DOES MIPS WORK?
MIPS uses a slip-plane system that moves inside the helmet, mimicking the brain’s own protection system. This layer is designed to rotate inside the helmet with the intent to potentially slow or reduce the amount of energy transferred to or from the head. Science tells us that if we can reduce the strains associated with rotational acceleration, we might reduce the risk and severity of brain injury.
