The inflatable lifejacket must always be an outer garment to ensure that its inflation is not restricted and that water can activate the trigger.

The waist belt must be adjusted so that the lifejacket fits correctly on the user. In a poorly adjusted life jacket, the weight tends to shift to the collar, while a properly adjusted one can be worn all day without discomfort in the shoulders and neck area.
