Panasonic Aquarea WH-UX16HE8 is a 16kW Split air-water heat pump outdoor unit that transfers heat in the refrigerant from the outdoor unit to the indoor unit. The 3-phase T-CAP H generation outdoor unit is suitable for use with the Panasonic All in One (WH-ADC0916H9E8) or Bi-Bloc (WH-SXC16H9E8) indoor unit. In addition to the indoor unit, a mandatory outdoor unit base resistor Panasonic product number CZ-NE3P is required for defrosting the outdoor unit. Please note that Split air-to-water heat pumps require a license for the concept of refrigerant.

Buying a device containing F-gases - notification of using a qualified installation shop
If changes are made to the heat pump's refrigerant circuit and it contains fluorinated greenhouse gases, connecting the circuit requires a refrigerant qualification issued by Tukes. As a sales company, we must ensure that the refrigeration circuit is connected by a qualified installation company or installer. You can easily find a qualified installer in your area, for example, in Tukes' register of operators . Select a town from the list and click search.

Dimensioning the air-to-water heat pump
Panasonic Aquarea air-to-water heat pumps are suitable as a heat source for water-circulating radiators and floor heating objects, as well as for producing hot domestic water. Dimensioning the right size/power class of the heating system can be done, for example, according to the peak power demand (W/m2) for heating during severe frosts.

The maximum surface area to be heated in relation to the heating power of the heat pump
  • Heat pump heating power: 16 kW
  • Surface area to be heated
    • New properties (40W/m2): 400 m2
    • Renovation sites (55W/m2): 290 m2
    • Log houses (75W/m2): 210 m2
      • In calculating the surface area, normal room height (max 2.8m) and indoor temperature (21 °C) have been used, as well as an estimate of the average design outdoor temperature in Finland.
      • To ensure sufficient heating capacity, please note that your heating system always has an additional electric resistance/other back-up heating system for winter's extreme cold (below -28 °C), when the air-to-water heat pump does not produce heat. The power of the electric resistance must be at least the size of the heating peak power requirement / the power of the outdoor unit of the air-to-water heat pump. An additional resistor can be placed, for example, in a buffer charger or a hybrid charger, if the electrical resistance of the indoor unit itself is not yet high enough (usually applies to systems over 9kW).
Sufficiency of domestic hot water according to the number of persons / volume of the hot water tank
  • Capacity of the hot water tank, 2-6 people: 150L - 200L
  • Capacity of the hot water storage tank, 6-10 people: 300L - 400L
  • Domestic water tank capacity, 10-15 people: 500L - 750L
The buffer accumulator of the heat distribution network balances the operation of the heat pump, it makes the operating periods of the compressor long enough and helps the heat pump to work as planned. It is especially useful when heat is produced in a water-circulating radiator network, where the amount of water is typically smaller than, for example, in water-circulating floor heating sites. We recommend the use of a buffer accumulator at least with radiators, it also helps with underfloor heating, especially in heating situations in damp rooms during the summer, when the amount of water in the floor circulation is small when the rest of the underfloor heating circuit is closed. In these situations, even the inverter compressors may run intermittently without the buffer charger connection.
  • The volume of the buffer tank in relation to the power of the heating system is chosen as a rule of thumb at a minimum of 10L/1kW
    • The volume of the buffer tank with a heating power of 16 kW: 160 L - 300 L
* Dimensioning calculations are indicative examples in a normal situation, and we do not bear responsibility for the calculations when the use of the heating system, as well as environmental and climate conditions vary.

Panasonic Aquarea air to water heat pumps
Panasonic manufactures high-quality air-to-water heat pumps for the heating needs of apartments and commercial premises. The wide selection of Aquarea heat pumps from 3 to 16 kW will help you find the right system for your heating or cooling needs. Cost-effective and environmentally friendly solutions are suitable for both new construction and renovation projects. In Panasonic's extensive collection, you will find a heat pump model suitable for your house, with which you can maximize comfort and the savings produced by the heat pump.

Applications
The Aquarea air-to-water heat pump is a good solution for new or existing households, as well as for all kinds of properties. The systems are particularly suitable for locations with water-circulating radiators and/or water-circulating underfloor heating. The system can work independently, or it can be combined with an existing gas, wood or oil-fired, etc. heating system as needed.

Increases user comfort
The Aquarea air-to-water heat pump is able to precisely adjust the temperature thanks to reliable Panasonic inverter compressors and easy-to-use control features. Aquarea heats your home efficiently even in more demanding conditions, the heat pumps work up to -28 °C outside temperature, and they work with the compressor at full capacity without additional heating even at a temperature of -20 °C. The heat pump has a wide range of different adjustment features, which you can use to ensure complete living comfort, as well as sufficient hot domestic water.

An air-to-water heat pump takes energy from the outside air
Based on advanced air-to-water heat pump technology, Aquarea is a very efficient and environmentally friendly system. It captures energy from the surrounding air and transfers it to the heating of the water and hot domestic water needed for heating the home and, if necessary, also cools your house. The system takes up to 80% of the required energy from the ambient air, even at very low temperatures.

Savings opportunities
With an air-to-water heat pump, it is possible to save up to more than 50% of the annual heating costs, at best even more. Its use is safe, carefree and effortless. With an air-to-water heat pump that utilizes new technology, home heating can be regulated in a much more versatile, intelligent and precise manner compared to, for example, traditional electric, wood and oil heating boilers. An air-to-water heat pump is typically more affordable in terms of acquisition costs than, for example, a geothermal heat pump.
