You first connect the base station to your router via an Ethernet cable. After this, it'll recognize your WiFi, and the base station can also connect to your WiFi router wirelessly. Footage is stored locally and you can watch it in the app via a secure connection. This way, you don't need a cloud subscription to store footage. The built-in battery lasts 180 days with average use, after which you can recharge it.
